Case Study: Full-Container Delivery of Drilling Equipment to Southeast Asia Client – A Story of Teamwork and Commitment

May 13, 2025
Early Feb 29 2024 saw our organization successfully deliver and dispatch a full-container load of air compression and drilling equipment to a long-standing client located in Southeast Asia. Not only was the shipment notable because of its volume, but because it also summed up the teamwork and commitment coupled with our ongoing passion to please our customers. Our team worked around the clock to make certain that all the equipment was loaded safely and efficiently despite difficult weather on the day of dispatch. In this article, we present a detailed account of the project, from order to dispatch.

Project Overview

Client Profile:
Our client is a company based in Indonesia that is involved in infrastructure development, open pit mining and geological exploration projects, among others. This particular order was part of their expansion into deeper mineral exploration drilling in mountainous terrain.

Order Contents:
The shipment included a complete package tailored to their new drilling project, comprising:

1 x Industrial Air Compressor (Diesel-driven, 22 m³/min @ 20 bar)

150 meters of high-pressure air hose (reinforced rubber)

10 x DHD350 down-the-hole (DTH) hammers

30 x 115mm DTH drill bits

1 x Set of heavy-duty rubber tracks for mobile drilling rigs

Spare parts and maintenance tools

This collection of goods filled a 40-foot high cube container, demonstrating the scale and complexity of the order.

Planning and Coordination
Once the client confirmed their order in late February, our engineering and logistics teams began work immediately. As some components required custom machining (e.g., specific thread types for the DTH bits), lead time was estimated at 25 working days.

Regular video calls and update emails kept the client informed of developments. They were interested most in the timing of the delivery because any delay would affect the mobilization of their crew to the drilling location. Our sales and logistics sectors maintained close coordination with the supplier, warehouse staff, and the shipping agent to ensure on-time dispatch.

Final Preparations and Weather Challenge
The planned date of shipping was the 8th of April. Unfortunately, a weather change came quickly and dumped heavy rain on our area on the loading date. This presented a serious problem, as drilling gear—particularly precision parts such as hammer and drill bits—need to be shielded against water during handling and transport.

Instead of rescheduling loading, our crew took action quickly. Temporary awnings were erected rapidly in the loading warehouse area. Employees donned raincoats, and pallets were covered with industrial waterproof film to protect the cargo.

What was really admirable was the camaraderie shown by all the members of the company. Members from departments typically not associated with logistics came to the aid. From sales to admin, team members assisted in transporting equipment, sealing cartons, and tying the shipment with straps and protective enclosures. The industrial air compressor of more than 1.5 tons was carefully positioned and hoisted with a forklift under the direction of our technical crew and freight forwarder.

The container was packed to the brim and completely sealed by late afternoon. The crew was soaked and fatigued but in a cheerful mood. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and sharing of snacks and a real sense of accomplishment.

Documentation and Client Follow-Up

Our logistics team had previously prepared all of the export documents, such as the commercial invoice, packaging list, certificate of origin, and inspection certificates as required. We sent to the client photographs of the container packed, as well as a serial number list and loading videos to make it transparent. The client was also appreciative of our extra work and even more so when they found out about the rainy weather. “We are really impressed by your commitment and professionalism,” they wrote. “This is why we continue to work with your team.”

Lessons and Takeaways
This project reaffirmed several key principles that are vital to our operations:

Customer Satisfaction is Our Driving Force:
Every effort made—whether staying late, braving the rain, or manually inspecting each component—was driven by a desire to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations.

Teamwork Makes the Impossible Possible:
The spontaneous collaboration across departments showcased the culture we’ve built. A company is only as strong as the unity of its people.

Preparedness Beats Challenges:
Our decision to pre-wrap goods, prepare weather protection measures, and rehearse the loading sequence helped prevent damage and delay, even in inclement weather.

Communication is the key:
Let customers participate in the whole process, ensure the transparency of information, let customers trust us, and ensure that the communication details are foolproof.

Conclusion
What started as a routine shipment became a testament to our company's spirit. The full-container delivery of air compressors, DTH tools, and associated equipment might seem like just another business transaction from the outside. But for those involved, it was an experience of collective effort, personal responsibility, and pride in one’s work.

We believe that customers can successfully complete their drilling projects using the equipment we provide and look forward to more cooperation in the future.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about moving goods—it’s about building long-term relationships, creating value through service, and doing the right thing, even when it rains.
